Watsky, an American musician, songwriter, record producer, poet, and author is live streaming his attempt at breaking the World Record for Longest Freestyle Rap.
A self-professed geek, Watsky started to gain attention in 2006 when he was the Youth Speaks Grand Slam Poetry Champion. Since then he has been entertaining live audiences, and music lovers alike with is own brand of lyrical style and poetry.
Watsky announced his world record attempt Tuesday, May 5 stating it will be from “self-isolation in Los Angeles” for a goal of reaching a record for 33 hours and 33 minutes. The stream will be made available on Watsky’s YouTube, Twitch and Facebook pages.
The current record is held by Pablo Alvarez, of Miami bred group Good Bison, who rapped for 25 hours, 56 minutes and four seconds in 2016.
The attempt started Wednsday, May 6, and will end Thursday May 7.
The description of the YouTube Video gives more details:
how does watsky pee? – he has a mic on his shirt, continues to rap, and pees standing up.
how does watsky eat? – one of his cups is a strawberry smoothie.
why is he doing this? – to raise money for artists, crew member and fans that are in financial need due to Covid-19 event cancellations.
I’m currently trying to rap for 33 straight hours to raise money for my band & crew for my postponed tour + my fan relief fund + other needy musicians through the charity Sweet Relief. hope you’re doing ok in quarantine.
